I spent the morning of April 1st 2006 taking photographs of the participants in the Cooper River Bridge Run. The run started in Mt Pleasant, crossed over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge and finished in downtown Charleston, SC. The hotel in Mt Pleasant where my family and friends were staying was very close to the bridge. As sunset approached I found a good angle right in the hotel parking lot, but the view of the bridge was obstructed. Someone gave me a few hints on where to go to avoid the foreground distractions and not long afterwards I found the spot. I took several shots over the next 30 minutes as the sky darkened.
