Mpongo Private Game Reserve (formerly Mpongo Park) is situated in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, about 20 miles from East London. Adjacent private farms were restocked with indiginous wildlife and opened to the public. Over the years ownership has changed along with access to the park, facilities and the variety of animals. Before planning a visit check the current status. When I lived close by and access was easy and affordable, I spent many hours, usually on a Saturday morning slowly driving around the park on its unpaved roads just enjoying the African bushveld.
